Lambda Chi Alpha at Southeast Missouri State University prides itself in its award winning philanthropic programs. We raise thousands of dollars for two different nationally recognized organizations: Movember and the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Our Vice President of External Affairs is responsible for leading, creating, promoting, and coordinating our philanthropic events. With it being one of the largest philanthropy events held by a Greek Organization at Southeast, Watermelon Bust is always a hit. Sororities across campus participate in engaging activities throughout the week- including a canned food drive, pageant, and social media contest- all leading up to the infamous Watermelon Bust. Thousands of dollars are raised each year for this event and are donated to Movember to support Men's Mental Health.
In 2012, Lambda Chi Alpha at Southeast Missouri State University suffered a tragic loss when our brother, Scott Wood, passed away from cancer. The active chapter created a philanthropy event in his name which has evolved over the years. In the tenth anniversary of Scott's death, the event was reimagined to be more engaging and raise more money than ever for the St. Baldrick's Foundation- an organization that raises money to find a cure for children's cancer. The Scott Wood Classic is a flag football tournament that sororities participate in, preceded by a week of engaging events including a social media fundraiser and the infamous LambdaFry.
